Can’t decide between country or city living? You will find both on your doorstep in South East Wales. Newport’s ongoing regeneration offers high street brands, a leisure complex, multiplex cinema and vibrant nightlife. It’s also home to Rodney Parade (where you can catch the Newport Gwent Dragons rugby team in action), the Wales National Velodrome and The Riverfront theatre. You will also find farmers markets, food festivals, antique shops and some of the best local foodie venues in Monmouthshire.
The surrounding area also has a wealth of heritage attractions, including the Caerleon Roman Fortress and Baths, Tredegar House, Tintern Abbey, Caerphilly Castle, Chepstow Castle and Caldicott Castle. There is also plenty of outdoor hiking trails, cycling paths and beaches to explore.

South East Wales has a number of local public and private schools for both primary and secondary education. These include both English and Welsh speaking schools.
Its Education Achievement Service (which caters to the whole region) was established to help support continual improvement and has been credited with raising education standards throughout the region.
The area is also home to the University of South Wales’ Newport City Campus (an iconic building that overlooks the River Usk) and Coleg Gwent, which offers a range of courses that range from A Levels and degree pathways to foundation courses, apprenticeships and higher education.
Conveniently located along the M4 corridor, South East Wales has excellent commuter links that connect the region to the rest of the UK. The region also has local bus routes and train services – with Newport Railway Station providing routes to most destinations throughout the UK.
For greener travel, there are also plenty of walking trails and cycling paths to take advantage of, too.
