Future Nurse Academy
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has developed a career pathway for our current and future employees to become registered Nurses. The Future Nurse Academy is a developmental pathway supporting Health Care Support Workers to progress to their chosen field of part-time or full-time pre-registration Nursing degree in the field of Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health.
We have a clear journey of progression for our nurses from Band 2 to a Registered Nurse. Candidates can step-on and step-off the Academy at the end of each stage of education. Contact us for more information.

Primary Care and Community
Working in Primary Care
Primary Care provides the first point of care, day or night for more than 90% of people’s contact with the NHS in Wales. General Practice is a core aspect of Primary Care: it is not the only element – Primary Care encompasses many services, including, GPs, pharmacy, dentistry, and optometry. Primary Care via Care Navigation also coordinate access for people to the wide range of services in the local community to meet their health and wellbeing needs.
These community services incorporate an extensive range of staff, such as: community and district nurses, rapid response and reablement nurses, practice nurses, midwives, health visitors, health care support workers, mental health workers, health promotion teams, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, phlebotomists, paramedics, physicians associates, therapies staff, social services, other local authority staff as well as those people working and volunteering in the wealth of voluntary organisations within our communities. In addition to these posts there are a number of different vital administration and managerial roles.

Pharmacy
Pharmacy is a unique Specialty; it offers access and support in healthcare wellbeing, prevention, treatment and care to patients as individuals across the whole healthcare system.

Musculoskeletal Transformation
MSK services support people who are affected by and living with an MSK condition. MSK conditions include arthritis as well as other nerve, muscle and tendon disorders that can result in pain, reduced function and a reduction in someone’s well-being. They can affect over 17 million people across the UK and in an aging population, many individuals are living with a combination of other health concerns alongside MSK conditions.
Across Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, our services are changing. We are building better than ever MSK services, providing early access to treatment, with a key ethos of enabling people to help themselves. Allied Health Professional (AHP) teams are a key part of this transformation. AHPs are 13 individual professions allied by their belief in the importance of enabling people to manage their own wellbeing.
